Mova Globe - Black Metallic

Rotates silently on its own when exposed to ambient light! The MOVA globe is the first member of a new family of objects that come quietly to life when touched by light, without wires or batteries. The globe floats at a point of perfect balance between buoyant forces and gravitational forces, and slowly turns as it feels the force of the Earth's magnetic field and the energy carried in light. Its perpetual, quiet motion brings a tranquil point of focus to a room. Add more light and watch the Earth spin faster, dim the setting and observe it slowing. It really is an amazing sight to see! The Mova globe works similarly to a compass in that the Earth's magnetic field makes this work! Makes a great desk toy for the office or an interesting coffee table conversation starter! Globe is 4.5 inches in diameter (11.43 cm)

Yahoo Answers For Perpetual Motion Globe
Question What device, could almost be call perpetual motion?
The are about the size of a 'snow globe' or can be larger... there is no power sourse of a wire or anything entering the device. A solar cell, does not provide energy. When you pick up, there is NOTHING that it is attached to.
Best Answer I know! I know! A fictional device! Seriously, I think you are referring to a glass bulb with vanes that spin around. This is NOT a perpetual motion machine; it depends on energy in the form of light. That makes the dark sides of the vanes hotter than the light side, which causes air to jump more energetically off teh dark sides, which drives the vanes. So there certainly IS a power source; it's external, that's all.
